Barbara Hayman

Barbara Hayman has always been an interior designer. Before she received awards and accolades, before she formally trained as an interior decorator, she generously shared her design sensibilities with friends and family, bumping up their style profiles.  Her own home is a testimony to her keen eye for design, always looking beautifully and creatively decorated.

It was this informal decorating practice that she formally parlayed into an exciting career in interior design. Partnering with franchise organization Decorating Den Interiors Barbara started her own interior design company fulfilling her lifelong passion. In 2013 Barbara’s husband Darryl joined the interior design company as a certified Hunter Douglas Installer, completing the many services on offer.

Barbara says, “your home or office interior should express your tastes and your lifestyle, and the whole process should be easy and enjoyable. My initial consultation is complimentary, and because I work with a wide variety of suppliers and products I can help you determine a budget and price range that is comfortable. Once we have established your budget, you can relax and know that everything I present to you will fit within the budget we discussed for your project.”

In addition to her unerring eye for great design, Barbara is skilled at listening to her clients to better understand their design personality, preferences and goals. Barbara designs in a wide spectrum of design styles — depending on her client’s needs; she is an expert in space planning, lighting, furniture and all the other elements of good design – including for outdoors and gardens. “Whether your goal is a repurposed room, or a whole new interior environment for your entire house, we come to you, in your home or office – yes, even garden – and we will show you attractive, affordable designs.”

Barbara grew up in Jamaica and moved to the United States to further her education. She received her degree in Communications from Villanova University, then worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a number of years before starting her interior design firm. Her communications degree together with her Professional Design School training from Decorating Den Interiors combine to enhance her natural design talents – all to the benefit of her clients.

She enjoys reading, traveling and keeping up with all the current design and product trends: touring showrooms, factories, show houses and markets. When not busy helping clients beautify their surroundings, Barbara believes in giving back to her community. She serves on her church board and is involved in several church ministries. She regularly offers a variety of complimentary design seminars to non-profit organizations, clubs and fundraising foundations.

When asked what she wanted people to know about her, Barbara’s reply was, “That I love my job! There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing the happiness on my clients’ faces  when they see my work transform their space into something beautiful.
